CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) — Sen. Barack Obama spoke at a his first news conference as president-elect Friday afternoon. The following is a transcript of the conference:

Obama: Thank you very much, everybody. Thank you very much.

This morning, we woke up to more sobering news about the state of our economy. The 240,000 jobs lost in October marks the 10th consecutive month that our economy has shed jobs. In total, we’ve lost nearly 1.2 million jobs this year, and more than 10 million Americans are now unemployed. Read more

THE PRESIDENT: Good morning. Over the past few days, we have witnessed a startling drop in the stock market — much of it driven by uncertainty and fear. This has been a deeply unsettling period for the American people. Many of our citizens have serious concerns about their retirement accounts, their investments, and their economic well-being.

Here’s what the American people need to know: that the United States government is acting; we will continue to act to resolve this crisis and restore stability to our markets. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson’s original plan was three pages. The House rejected bill had turned into 102 pages. Tonight, the Senate is poised to pass a bill that is 451 pages long. Wonder how much pork the sanctimonious McCain is voting for tonight?

Warren Buffet: Bailout Goodhousekeeping Seal of Approval?

A CNBC pundit just told America that Warren Buffett is the Bailout’s ‘Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval’ for making deals during the “crisis.”  Buffett made a new deal today with GEHe’s already made this deal since Paulson’s bid to become King Shit of Economic Mountain. 

Buffett does support the Bailout Bill, but as for these deals – Buffett’s just doing what Warren does best – he’s finding the value and investing.  He’ll make out like a bandit, only he’s the sort of investor that reaps honest profit.

Still not sold on the bailout …
