You make some good points. We need to remember that there is ideology and then there is politics. Although the two can intersect, it is rare to find a person that can balance on the fine line between the two. Ideology can exist free of money and power whereas politics is nothing but the attempt to acquire both. Rush has stated many times that he has no interest in entering the political arena and he does not desire that his prescence should be a determining factor in election results, as it should be. He simply states how he feels and makes people think. Even if a person disagrees with him, they were made to use their mind in making that decision. You have pointed out several very weak points in the Republican party and it's elected officials. That is the start to solving the problem, identifying that there is a problem. In days gone by factions within a country may have been at odds with one another but when confronted with a common threat they put aside their differences to combat that which could destroy them. Our situation is simply this: Do we allow an extraordinairly socialist administration to keep moving America in a direction totally opposite from what we have known for over 200 years or do we set aside our grievances and do what we can as rapidly as possible to stop it. It's coming down to chosing one side or the other I'm afraid, and we'll need all hands on board. We can bicker amongst ourselves later. Start emailing all your Republican representatives and let them know that you are aware of their spending shenanigans and that any further support of this expansion of the budget and of government will be remembered in the future at the polls. We can make them be conservatives again if we act like conservatives ourselves and get involved in our government.

Many flowery accusations in your second paragraph. Maybe a couple of actual examples (with dates and times, of course) would help everyone to decide whether you actually listen to the man or just get your talking points from some website (Rush calls folks like you "seminar callers") Please, bitter accusations will only undermine your case. Just bring some facts please, no need to get any nastier than you already have. And remember, some 12 million of us listen daily, for all 3 hours.

If the item you mention is taken in the full context (as it is difficult for some to do) you will see he was talking about conservatives being the "minority party" in the interim government, not comparing himself or anybody else to the "minority groups" that embrace the Democrat party. Early in the speech he states that we conservatives do not recognize other Americans by groups but as individuals and individual achievement. Rush is the embodiment of that premise, and that gets deep under the skin of some.

You can see the entire video in one flash page, and you can now purchase the DVD of the entire Rush CPAC speech at:

http://www.c-spanarchives.org/library/index.php?main_page=product_video_info&products_id=284357-3&showVid=true

I just purchased it, since I rank this speech right up there with Reagan’s conservative speeches/writings.

This is one of the most revealing excerpts from Rush's speech. Rush followers: what does it reveal about Rush? This is a test.

"Don’t treat people as children. Respect their intelligence. Realize that there’s a way to persuade people. Sometimes the worst way is to get in their face and point a finger. Set up a set of circumstances where the conclusion is obvious. Let them think they came up with the idea themselves. They’ll think they’re smart that they figured it out. Who cares how you persuade them, the fact they can be persuaded is factually correct, it’s possible."

In 1964, I voted for Barry Goldwater, a conservative.

Rush Limbaugh is not a conservative. He's a fascist, and an ignorant one at that, with a large dopey following.

Even Pat Robertson condemned Limbaugh recently for saying that he hoped Obama would fail.

Boys and girls, you'd better hope Obama succeeds brilliantly.

If he doesn't, you can kiss this country's economic prospects goodbye for the next five years, at least.

"Created crisis?" Ignorant fools.
