  1. Carrol Grant says:

I think the unemployment rate is much higher 8.1%. Many
unemployed people can not qualify for unemployment. I
am one of them. Many of the hiring techniques used by todays
companies limit their liability for unemployment insurance.
Companies of every seize do not want attachment nor commitment to a workforce, they try to limit this. Therefore their are many long term unemployed in the US.
Companies are also interested in hiring only fresh, young
workers, under 40. Illnesses begin to develop after this
age and they want to keep their health care premiums to
a minimum. The work place is very different than it was even 10 years age.

Wow, Carrol…you are SO right. I know that it’s true.

We need balance in the USA and that means doing what works and thinking about the people for a change. We need universal health care like the rest of the world has. That will eliminate worker comp and high insurance premiums making ALL of us equal and hireable. That means over 40 will not be a liability anymore. It mean’s people who are older are an asset. America is all about exploitation, lack of empathy and corporate worshiping and it’s about time that this trend does a 360.
