There was a lot of debate about whether Dann’s colossal screwing up of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office rose to an impeachable offense.  I still don’t think we know about all of the shenanigans and ineptness that plagued his shortened term in office.  The Associated Press has put a long piece out on the wire reporting on some people’s view that the articles of impeachment filed against Dann created a dangerously loose precedent for impeachment.

I don’t recall that any action was ever taken regarding impeachment — how can there be a precedent? Legal opinions requested … post to comments.

  1. Francis says:

The dangerous and slippery slope that was broached by the idea of an impeachment was that anyone could be impeached as long as they had the votes. Kudos for the democrats for taking the lead on this issue. Had they not have the true problems of our state constitution would have been exposed. In the constitution the definition of misdeameanor is not well defined and open to interpretation. The general assembly should address this to God help us aviod these kind of legal questions in the future.
